Crime Victims United
of Virginia launches TV Ad; Exposes Bob
McDonnell’s real record on Sexual Predators
October 22, 2009
Today,
we're releasing this information about Bob McDonnell because
we just couldn't stand to hear him hide his real record
on sexual predators any more.
In
just about every TV ad he’s run, it was harder and
harder to watch without setting the record straight.
The
facts are crystal clear: Bob McDonnell ruled that
a crucial law, designed to protect students, didn’t
apply to contractors delivering soda in public schools. To
come up with his tortured logic, he said that the
delivery of products is not a service, something
that defies the opinion of multiple school boards
and common sense.
This is a serious topic, with very serious safety implications, and it
deserves serious discussion in this campaign.
Our hope is that Bob McDonnell will explain himself to the voters and
that other candidates for public office will tell the voters if and how
they intend to close this loophole and protect students throughout the
Commonwealth.
If Bob McDonnell had worked as hard at protecting
people from sexual predators as he’s worked at lying about his record, we’d
be applauding him instead of exposing his transgressions.
Crime Victims United is an organization focused on
issues, and our issues are centered on concrete steps
to crack down on and protect the public from sexual
predators. It’s no longer enough to say you’ll crack
down. We expect office holders to take action,
and match their campaign rhetoric with real results.
Bob McDonnell’s actions have failed to live
up to his words, and all Virginians deserve to know
the facts at this time.
